George Clooney's political drama The Ides of March, starring Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Evan Rachel Wood, Ryan Gosling, and of course George Clooney himself, is scheduled to open the 68th Venice Film Festival this year. We all know how much the Italians love Clooney, so here's the trailer below if you've yet to see it.

Also, I can't help but notice that some of the films are also screening at the rivaling Toronto International Film Festival approximately a week or so later in September. It is likely to serve as an opening to what will likely be the start of the award season campaigning for the prospective Oscar baits.

What do you make of this year's Venice Film Festival programme?
