27th Film Independent Spirit Awards

"The Artist" is leading the path as a strong contender this Award Season with 5 nominations at the freshly announced 27th Film Independent Spirit Awards. Also with 5 in hand is "Taking Shelter".

As this barely signals the beginning of the intensive Award Season to come, it isn't quite easy to place a finger to whether these nominations are in line with the majority's opinion and favour. Despite so, can't help but feel that The Artist would gradually become a critics' favourite and likely to emerge as a forerunner in the race.

The nomination list for Best Feature seemed to be a worthy indication of this season's possible contenders nevertheless. You may expect similar permutations of the 6 films listed below, but of course nothing is for certain.

Also, films like Allen's Midnight in Paris may have been nominated but in one technical category (Cinematography). If you'd ask me, I thought they deserve a little more recognition.

So, what do you make of the nominations?

  1. Is there a 'Best Music' from a film category? If so, I recommend the music from the musical saw scene in 'Another Earth'. You can hear it on the composer's website http://www.scottmunsonmusic.com/news/music-in-film-another-earth-soundtrack
