24th European Film Awards


The 24th European Film Awards' winners list was unveiled earlier in Berlin, Germany to quite an interesting affair.

Emerging top of the Awards was Lars von Trier's "Melancholia" that took home the Best Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Production Design. Melancholia's director however, didn't manage to clinch the Best Director award, which went to Danish film director Susanne Bier instead for her work in "Ina Better World".

One key note from this awards would be how some of the winning candidates were already considered in the last Academy Awards. Also, with the focus on European films, we would not be pitting them against US films like The Tree of Life.

That said, one of the front-running European film "The Artist" didn't continue its strong award season run with only a Best Composer win.
