National Board of Review 2011 Awards


The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures had recognised its list of winners yesterday with Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" coming up top at the Awards. Hugo emerged as the Best Film while Scorsese took home the Best Director award. Also of note is Best Foreign Language Film "A Separation", which was a repeat of its similar win at the Awards. This could lead to a possible Academy Award nomination later.

NBR gave us a clear indication of what they think would be the top films for this year - The Artist, The Descendants, Drive, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, The Ides of March, J. Edgar, The Tree of Life, War Horse.

Top independent films include - 50/50, Another Earth, Beginners, A Better Life, Cedar Rapids, Margin Call, Shame, Take Shelter, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Win Win.

  1. Why is there not a 'Best Music' from a film category? If there was, I would recommend the music from the musical saw scene in 'Another Earth'. You can hear it on the composer's website http://www.scottmunsonmusic.com/news/music-in-film-another-earth-soundtrack
